Welcome to the BBC The Musketeers kink meme

The lowdown: You post your prompt, anon or not. Someone else will hopefully fill it (also anon or not). Not for profit, just for fun. And in this case, for king and country.

Anon is on, IP logging is off.

Rules:
No wank
No kink-shaming
Be respectful to everyone
The mod is not your babysitter
Use the warnings

Mandatory trigger warnings/warnings for both prompts and fills:
non-con/dub-con
abuse (physical and mental)
issues such as racism, sexism, homo-/trans-/-bi-/ace-phobia etc
character death
suicide
self-harm
eating disorders
extreme physical or mental illness
substance abuse (alcohol, drugs, medication)
bullying
gore and horror

If this list misses anything, do let me know, though please understand that if absolutely everything is added this list will never end.

You are encouraged and advised to add additional warnings at your own discretion.

Please make use of the subject line.

If your prompt alludes to the book or any of the other adaptations, please let us know which one.

Lastly, prompt freezes (which I have to say I’m really not fond of) etc will be at the mod’s discretion. I will decide on a prompt cut-off point for prompt posts once I know how fast the meme moves.

Rule addition: No more discussions on the prompt post. If you want to discuss something, we have a discussion post. If you want to wank about a prompt, that's not what the discussion post is for. That's what your scroll bar and that little red x in the top corner of your browser is for.

Dragons!

Date: 2014-03-20 05:12 pm (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
Dragons!dragons make everything better.

Maybe someone is secretly a shapeshifting dragon? Maybe everyone is? Or dragons are intelligent, solitary, rarely seen creatures that very occasionally intervene in human affairs; rare because people have hunted them. Legend has it, that in a time of great need, they will fight alongside humans.
Or a dragon rider AU.

A combination of the above would be especially perfect, but is not necessary.

Ooo, or, can we have the 3 or 4 musketeers being secret dragon lords (a la Merlin)? Able to summon and speak with them when needed in dire circumstances and the king and Treville being the only ones who know they have this power?

So pretty much the only time that book!Athos really, genuinely loses it and laughs is when he encounters D'Artagnan dressed in women's clothing (for reasons).

So give me D'Artagnan in women's clothing, and what happens once Athos stops laughing...

Milady does really well on a mission, and Richelieu decides to give her a reward: Athos tied up and naked, and she can do anything she likes to him, as long as the Cardinal gets to watch (and maybe join in later).

Aramis/Porthos, Priest AU

Date: 2014-03-20 06:35 pm (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
Aramis never joined the Musketeers (maybe an injury kept him from enlisting!), and chose to follow his other path and become a priest (and aspiring abbé) instead. Years later, Porthos, Athos, and d'Artagnan are sent on a mission of some sort involving a Catholic church in a quiet little village on the countryside, where they meet Aramis, who's sort of obviously unsatisfied with the peaceful life he's been living until then.

Details are up to the author. Maybe they're attacked, and Aramis surprises/impresses Porthos with whatever fighting skills Aramis still has, which have clearly been kept up in secret? I don't know! I'm looking for priest!kink and all the plot that can come with it, basically.

Five times we get the famous "I am d'Artagnan of Lupiac in Gascony-" introduction.

Can be as serious or as cracky as you can make it.

Bonus for everyone else eventually just sighing and rolling their eyes.

Maybe a +1 where he introduces himself as d'Artagnan of the King's Musketeers, and is all cool and calm and collected instead of his usual ridiculous hothead self

After rewatching "The Good Soldier" I want something that deals with how Aramis is a soldier first and he follows orders and how he's willing to sacrifice things for the greater good (ie France), which makes him quite similar to Treville and Richelieu.

Could be that he sacrifices his friends for the sake of France or strikes down a revolt or assassinates a quarrelsome noble or maybe a take on the whole Man in the Iron Mask business

From the fling between a musketeer cadet and a theology student to not with you/not without you relationship between the captain of the guard and the first minister of France Treville and Richelieu have never been able to stay away from each other.

From surviving the coup of Maria di Medici to deliberately sacrificing a whole regiment to distract the Duke of Savoy they couldn't have been closer or farther away from each other.

Then while they're recovering they have Aramis and d'Art lick each other clean and switch - Porthos with d'Art and Athos with Aramis. This goes on until neither dom can get it up again. Whether or not the subs get to come is up to filler. Maybe even some tender aftercare for the poor wrung out boys?

Anne/Aramis, amour courtois

Dear fellow anons, I confess it: courtly love is my jam. If it's not too niche for you all, I'd love to see some Anne/Aramis in that time-honoured knight and his lady relationship. Think Lancelot and Guinevere: forbidden love, pleasure-as-pain imagery, religious metaphor, the whole rigmarole.

Alternatively, give me what the show is probably going to provide next ep anyway: the Queen on the run protected by Musketeers - very closely protected by one in particular...

So after reading Sleeping Arrangements by doomcanary (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1338277), it turns out i have a kink A MILE WIDE for bed sharing. So I'd love to see some more along these lines, any pairing, where they have nebulous relationships (i.e. they are not in anything we would recognise as a relationship) but sometimes end up in the same bed and find themselves reaching for each other in the dark anyway.

FILL - Ground Rules

From: (Anonymous)
OP - I'm afraid this fill only covers half of your prompt. Hope you'll be able to enjoy it anyway!

Gen or pre-slash (Aramis/Porthos)

"You're with me," said Athos, tapping d'Artagnan on the shoulder. The younger man looked confused, but nodded and followed Athos like a duckling on the heels of its mother. The comparison had Aramis grinning to himself as he scraped the last of the stew off his plate.

"Leaves you with me," he said to Porthos, disregarding the way his friend dropped his head into his hands with a theatrical groan. Standing up, ignoring how his back protested the sudden movement with an alarming pop, he rapped his hat against his thigh to shake away the dust.

"C'mon," he continued, reaching down to tug at Porthos' shoulder. "Don't want them stealing all our blankets, do we? "

Porthos muttered something that Aramis couldn't quite catch before obediently heaving himself to his feet. Together they followed the route their friends had taken, through the near-empty inn and up the creaky stairs to the bedroom they'd been given for the night.

There were two beds in the narrow chamber, each one little more than a frame filled with straw and covered with fabric so loosely woven that several of the dried stalks were poking out through the weave. Something small and furry hurried across the floor as they entered. The fireplace was filled with ashes but stone cold to the touch.

Athos had already staked out the bed closest to the door, his coat thrown carelessly over the edge while its owner emptied the last of a wine bottle. d'Artagnan stood shaking out the blankets, grimacing as disturbed dust and dirt from the floor danced in the air. Their weapons were carefully laid out on the rickety table but, Aramis knew from experience, Athos would already have hidden a dagger under his pillow.

For a few moments he played with the idea of warning d'Artagnan, but, well, why meddle with the only entertainment the evening was likely to offer...

"Next time, we should just sleep in the stable," the young man muttered as he picked up and discarded the dried shell of a beetle from the mattress. "Cheaper, cleaner and less wild life. If I end up with fleas-"

Porthos' laugh came close to rattling the already cracked window panes.

"If?" he repeated. "There's no if about it. Come morning, we'll all be scratching ourselves like dogs."

They all shuddered at the thought.

Leaving Porthos to handle the bed and its possible inhabitants, Aramis began the arduous process of heading to bed. His boots were muddy, his coat wet and a button had come loose from his jacket. He almost gagged sniffing his own armpit, then nearly fell on his head as he jumped around on one foot while tugging off his left boot. Raking his fingers through his hair he found it to be more tangles than not.

Crossing the floor he stepped carefully around the beetle graveyard at the end of Athos and d'Artagnan's bed before digging through the saddle bags for his comb. Only halfway through brushing out the worst of the knots did he notice that d'Artagnan's eyes, as wide as saucers, were focused straight at him.

In fact, they were all staring.

"What?" he demanded, looking from face to face.

"Nothing," came three voices at once.

"Please, carry on," d'Artagnan added, failing miserably at keeping a straight face. Suddenly very happy that he hadn't warned his young friend about Athos disturbing sleeping accessory, Aramis just gave them all a chilly look before turning his back to them and refocusing on his hair.

"Lights out," Athos finally ordered. "We have a long ride tomorrow."

Putting away the comb, Aramis hurried back across the floor. Something crunched under his feet but, all things considered, he decided it would be best not to look. Finding that, despite everything, the bed looked inviting he found himself longing for sleep. He was just about to climb in, when Porthos' huge hand landed on his shoulder and held him back.

"Hang on," he said. "Let's go over the ground rules."

Aramis moaned, but didn't try to struggle free. No point wasting his energy.

"Not this again," he complained. "It's sleeping, Porthos. It doesn't require rules."

"It does when one's sleeping next to you."

Though he'd spoken in his usual half-mutter, Athos voice carried clearly. d'Artagnan snickered, producing a most unflattering sound. Porthos just shook his head, before continuing with his damned list. As if Aramis hadn't heard it a few dozen times already.

"No kicking. No tickling. No hair pulling. Do not pinch my nose. No, not even if I'm snoring. Do not stick your finger in my mouth when I'm yawning. And do not, under any circumstances, poke at my ear-ring. Or hog the covers. I'll kick you out of the bed and you can sleep on the floor. I mean that this time."

Across the room, d'Artagnan had started to laugh hard enough to shake the bed.

"This is why you picked me?" he asked Athos, shoulders jiggling with mirth.

"We try and take turns," came the dry answer.

"You're all hilarious," Aramis interrupted. "Now, can I get in the bed please?"

Porthos sighed, but released him.

xxx

The problem with sleeping next to Aramis wasn't the fact that he had absolutely no respect for a man's boundaries, somehow managing to break every unwritten rule of bed-sharing without even trying. That was annoying, and somehow impressive, but not a deal breaker.

Nor was it the way he'd strip down to his small-clothes, jump straight into bed and then wait, with his eyes closed and his breath even enough to fool anyone, until his bed-mate gave in and joined him only for Aramis to then pounce. Or, well, roll actually but it amounted to the same thing. Within moments, sleep-heavy arms and legs would be pinning the helpless victim to the bed and the rest of the night would be spent in far too close proximity for anyone's comfort. Except, perhaps, Aramis'.

No amount of shouting or waving one's arms in the air made any impact on the man. Aramis stuck to his claim that a man couldn't help what he did while asleep and, anyway, did they expect him to just take their word for the fact that he had been the one to initiate the cuddling? For all he knew, they were the ones who'd snuggled up next to him.

Once, Porthos had followed through on his threat and kicked him out of the bed. He'd woken the next morning to the sight of Aramis sleeping with his back to the wall, teeth clattering and lips turning blue. Athos, when his turn came around to deal with Aramis, had just started giving a customary warning about the wicked little knife he kept under his pillow. Not that it seemed to help. Porthos had woken many mornings to find Aramis sprawled out over Athos like a second blanket.

Sighing, he tugged at the bedcovers to ensure he didn't lose his fair share. Feet, as cold as ice, found their way to his thighs and he manfully swallowed down a yelp. Aramis mumbled something, digging his head into Porthos' shoulder as if trying to hide from his dreams. Porthos shushed him, shifting to allow his friend to roll closer and moving his arm until it rested over Aramis' chest.

No, the worst part about sleeping next to Aramis had to be acknowledging that Porthos himself never slept as well as he did those nights when his best friend laid warm and pliant in his arms.

Fighting styles

Date: 2014-03-21 11:47 am (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
I have a bit of a kink for the boys being BAMF, and I really like that they all have slightly different fighting styles: Athos is clearly a trained swordsman, no doubt from childhood; Porthos is strong but he's also very quick and knows how to use both to his advantage. Aramis seems to combine being a swordsman with a touch of street fighting - I've noticed he'll use his boots on his opponents (he kicks d'Artagnan during practice and uses his foot to steal a sword from one of the red guards when defending Treville. d'Artagnan is all raw skill and brash, youthful confidence.

I'd love to read something that highlights all their different approaches to fighting.

Phrases d'Armes 1/1; gen

Riposte

He didn’t know how long it had been since his mother’s body had been carried away, presumably buried in a pauper’s grave of the church. They owed her that much, he reasoned, because his maman was devoutly religious, dressing up in her best clothes, and attending Mass every week even when she was exhausted from work. Personally, she had given her best to God, and look how He had repaid her: an unmarked grave and a son living on the streets.

However long since she had taken her last, shuddering breath, flecks of blood on her lips and resignation (relief) in her eyes, it was long enough that his stomach cramped for lack of food. He eyed the street. A stall with some food was left unprotected, the grocer currently laughing at a customer’s jokes, trying to entice them to buy some more. His eyes darted left and right, finally focusing on the meat pie sitting on the edge. He could almost taste it, warm, filling potatoes and meat soaked in gravy. His stomach rumbled in protest.

Out like a shot, he ran from the alley and nicked the pie before anyone could even question him. He turned and ran for the nearest street he could find, ducking underneath arms and brushing past men’s waists.

“Hey! Thief!” the grocer’s voice rose above the din. “Come back!”

He heard footsteps behind him and someone grabbed his shirt collar, swinging him backward. He clutched the pie to his chest and kicked as hard as he could, gratified when he heard an “oof!” from his attacker. He swung wildly with one fist, hitting something yielding. The hand clutching him released and he ran as hard as he could until he was certain there was nobody following him.

The pastry was crushed on top, but tasted wonderful. The next time someone tried to keep him from food, he decided, he would kick ‘em in the balls.

En Garde

Allez,” his tutor said, striking the traditional pose. Athos sighed, wishing he could be outside playing rather than taking his lessons. The tutor was a hard man with greasy hair and a nose perpetually thrust up in the air, like he smelled something bad. The handle of the man’s blade rapped him on the knuckles, and he cried out, sucking his hand into his mouth. The tutor sneered at him. “Pay attention, boy!”

“I am,” he said sulkily.

A peeling laugh, familiar to him, came from the corner, and he looked involuntarily where Thomas watched with rapt attention. He was still too young for lessons, yet, but thought the swish of the sabres, the parry and thrust, the dancing footwork were wonderful; he had crept in for the past two weeks, watching avidly as Athos drilled through the same moves. It was not that sword-fighting was not interesting, but he thought that it would be more, well, manly. This felt more like learning to waltz than to fight.

“I said, allez!”

A second strike on his knuckles snapped his attention back into place, though not without sending a glare at his little brother, who smiled guilelessly in return. Taking a deep breath, he lifted his arm and faced the tutor.

If nothing else, he would learn how to fight just to wipe that sneer off the man’s face.

Feint

Aramis effortlessly parried the blow, swiping his leg out and catching a firm kick to the man’s knee. He let out an inhuman howl and tilted forward. Aramis danced to the side, grabbing an apple and biting into it, watching as the man’s momentum carried him straight into the table. A small crowd of people were watching with their mouths open from the side, and his eyes trained on one comely woman. He winked at her, smiling with delight at her blushing giggle.

“Cad!” the man shouted, regaining his balance after the embarrassing passé. “I’ll teach you a lesson in manners!”

“I have had many, monsieur,” Aramis drawled. “Would you like to know whether spoons go to the left or right of the plate?”

“You make jokes!” the man’s mouth hung open, scarcely believing the audacity of the young swordsman.

“Always,” Aramis said. He backed away a step, giving himself some space to dodge the inevitable sweep of the sword. This was becoming tedious, and the young woman was beginning to look bored. He drew the man backward, waiting until he was close enough, then put his hand out behind him and brought out the wine bottle sitting on the table behind him. The man fell to the ground in a heap, the shards of the bottle’s neck still clutched in Aramis’s hand. He stared at it regretfully. “Such a waste of good wine.”

The crowd cleared, their entertainment having finished, and Aramis gave them a bow before seeking out the woman. She smiled when she saw him. “That wasn’t very gentlemanly of you,” she remarked.

Mademoiselle,” he said, sweeping over her hand and kissing the knuckles lightly. He looked up at her with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. “I promise you, if you gave me the pleasure of your company for a drink, I will prove to you that I am a gentleman.”

“One hopes not too much of one,” she murmured, and Aramis fought a crow of triumph.

Tonight might be interesting, after all.

Remise

“You should have parried,” Athos commented from the side. Aramis nodded in agreement, sword pointed downward. d’Artagnan stared up at them from the dirt, his pride more hurt than his backside.

“Aramis fights dirty!” he protested. He had come in for a finishing blow, but Aramis had swung around and kicked him in the knee, before following it up with a hard shove that landed him on the ground.

“Not everyone we fight is going to be honorable,” said Porthos. “In fact, if they pick a fight with us, you can almost guarantee they won’t be.”

“True,” Aramis agreed, holding out a hand for d’Artagnan. He ignored it, standing up and holding his sword out.

He rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck. “Again.”

“I think that’s enough,” Athos said.

“I can go again,” d’Artagnan said indignantly.

Athos looked at him skeptically. “You’ve been training all day. Even Musketeers must rest sometime.”

“I’ll never be one if I don’t spar,” d’Artagnan argued.

Athos and Aramis exchanged a silent look that d’Artagnan didn’t understand, before Athos nodded once, sharply. “Fine.”

He barely had time to register that they were initiating another round when Aramis performed a complicated balestra, then lunged forward, catching him off guard. He barely put up his sword in time, deflecting the blow by a narrow margin. Aramis didn’t give him time to recover before swinging again, forcing d’Artagnan to the side. A rain of blows came down, d’Artagnan struggling to beat them back, unable to even make one of his own. He had finally spotted an opening when a leg caught him around his ankle and pulled him down to his knees, sending him sprawling in front of Aramis. From behind him, he caught sight of Porthos smiling grimly. Aramis held out his blade, the point trembling against the hollow of d’Artagnan’s throat.

He stared up mutinously at Aramis, before turning his glare to the true culprit. Athos raised an eyebrow at him.

“Pride will start a fight, but very seldom finishes one,” Athos remarked. He brushed past Aramis and held out his hand.

d’Artagnan hesitated, then accepted the leverage to his feet. Porthos clapped him on the back, and Aramis smiled to let him know there were no hard feelings.

“We’ll spar again tomorrow,” Athos said, and this time, d’Artagnan didn’t argue.

Inspired by the fact that the historical Treville outlived Richelieu by 30 years (and quit being a musketeer four years after his death because he didn't get along with Mazarin)

Just break my heart with a deathbed scene between those two. Richelieu was pretty ill before he died and they both know it's going to end soon.

I'm sad just thinking about it. I second it, make me cry.

Aramis goes into heat. idk how or why, maybe he’s an omega, maybe he’s some sort of werecreature (some reason I picturing him as a wereleopard and have the Take Me Out Tonight song from Rent stuck in my head “Wanna wail at the moon like a cat in heat! Just take me out tonight”). And he wants both Athos and Porthos so badly. Together. At the same time.

Trying to convince them of this while in his heat state is hard. Did they even know he liked them before this or is it just his state forcing him? (He did). Maybe they are already all lovers, but they haven’t tried that before and are worried about hurting him. Did they even know about him being an omega/werecreature? Up to you. Eventually he succeeds and cue some double penetration and Aramis going out of his mind from the sensations and how much he’s loving it.

Seconded!

This is a shameless request.

I want d'Artagnan being fucked by whoever and then made to walk around with their come inside him, training and doing his chores and duties while knowing that he is completely and utterly owned.

Yea, I've given up on shame.

Aramis - self-harm

Date: 2014-03-21 06:18 pm (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
It has to be done, guys -- with a bit of good-will, it's almost canon!

"I will try to accompany you," said Aramis, "though I scarcely feel in a condition to mount on horseback. Yesterday I undertook to employ that cord which you see hanging against the wall, but pain prevented my continuing the pious exercise."

"That's the first time I ever heard of anybody trying to cure gunshot wounds with cat-o'-nine-tails; but you were ill, and illness renders the head weak, therefore you may be excused."

(from the book)

Please? Pretty please? With a naked musketeer on-top?

I can't promise, but I really want to do something with this idea.

Maybe Aramis is unavailable, or he is the one who is hurt, and d'Artagnan has to stitch him up - he's surprisingly good at it. Maybe he's the one who should have been a seamstress.

After all, he's lived on a farm all his life - the cattle and horses get into scuffles that sometimes end in bites and kicks that break the skin - someone has to put them back together.

Just want the others being surprised and impressed, and if it's Athos or Porthos, for them to tease Aramis about having competition for his position as team seamstress.

HA!

I'm picturing Porthos and Aramis seeing Athos as an easy mark or way to secure funds, but Athos being Athos sees right through them.

And lbr, that would only make them want him even more.

He's the loyal knight, she's the good queen and not matter how often the circle repeats they never reach their happy ending

Or do they?

(Could be a 5+1 if you can think of other couples fitting the bill and maybe a 21st century version where a queen can totally marry her bodyguard/divorce the king if she wants to)
From: (Anonymous)
Santiago Cabrera also played Vronsky in a European adaptation of Anna Karenina. I reckon Vronsky/Anna definitely fits the bill!

Athos/d'Artagnan, arranged marriage AU

Date: 2014-03-22 03:15 am (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
So d'Artagnan is a noble in the books, as is Athos. AU where Athos is the next heir to inherit his estate and fortune; his father wants Athos to marry another noble -- maybe to secure alliances, connections, and property? -- before he passes on. Luckily, he happens to have a noble on hand.

Points for Aramis and Porthos included in the story, Athos and d'Artagnan's first meeting to be at their engagement party, lots of anxious he-doesn't-really-want-me pinings, and training sessions!
