Welcome to the BBC The Musketeers kink meme

The lowdown: You post your prompt, anon or not. Someone else will hopefully fill it (also anon or not). Not for profit, just for fun. And in this case, for king and country.

Anon is on, IP logging is off.

Rules:
No wank
No kink-shaming
Be respectful to everyone
The mod is not your babysitter
Use the warnings
No prompts with characters under the age of 16 in sexual situations, please.
Please keep the discussions in the prompt post to a minimum. We have a discussion post

Mandatory trigger warnings/warnings for both prompts and fills:
non-con/dub-con
abuse (physical and mental)
issues such as racism, sexism, homo-/trans-/-bi-/ace-phobia etc
character death
suicide
self-harm
eating disorders
extreme physical or mental illness
substance abuse (alcohol, drugs, medication)
bullying
gore and horror

If this list misses anything, do let me know, though please understand that if absolutely everything is added this list will never end.

You are encouraged and advised to add additional warnings at your own discretion.

Please make use of the subject line.

If your prompt alludes to the book or any of the other adaptations, please let us know which one.

Lastly, prompt freezes (which I have to say I’m really not fond of) etc will be at the mod’s discretion. I will decide on a prompt cut-off point for prompt posts once I know how fast the meme moves.

Announcement: A blanket spoiler warning is necessary for prompts pertaining to season 2. Just season 2 Spoilers in the subject line will do.

[FILL] A time to cast away (1/?)

Ok ok I am literally SUCH A SUCKER for this prompt that i had to start filling it asap.

Pls be advised:

Ghost prompt = character death, bunch o other death stuff, religion stuff, gross capital punishment (sorry history you're gross it's just the facts)

###

Aramis was executed with extreme courtesy, like the gentleman he may well have been. He walked to the scaffold, in his own clothes, and was given time to speak and reconcile himself with God.

To the crowd he said: “I am much amazed that so many of you have come, as it is so early and this is gruesome stuff. It is my hope that I will not keep you long, for I dearly love France, and France is nothing without commerce, therefore if what transpires here transpires quickly it will have been both sweet and proper.” To the executioner he said something confidential, and evidently lighthearted, for he laughed when he was done. To Saint Catherine he entrusted his suffering, and then finally to God he made his apologies and abandoned himself utterly.

The executioner, having liked him, gave him a swift blow to the throat early on. And thus Porthos was robbed more quickly of his friend but with less suffering, so his own suffering could begin in earnest.

Porthos had known it his whole life, but loss always shocked him. When he thought that he had made it through the worst of his trials, it took him unaware, like a hunter when a deer bends down to drink.

He should have known. Each time he fell asleep in Aramis’s bed, with a hand in his, and each time he thought how happy he was, he should have known that happiness on earth was borrowed against pain. He had not been warned enough, he did not see the clouds gather. He knew life was cruel, but still did not suspect how much.

For months, only two thoughts would console him enough to sleep. The first, that his own death was inevitable, and when he woke it would be closer by a day. The second, that although time takes everything from everyone, it would take nothing more from Aramis.

At midnight on the second of November it rained hard, and thunder shook the city, and Porthos swore the cold would sober him up and walked home. It did not work.

His cold breath clouded in front of him and was beaten down by the rain. He passed his own windows on the way to the door, freezing, drunk, and bad-tempered, and observed that he had left the curtains open. Lightning pulsed above him, and once more, before the thunder cracked. Porthos searched his pockets for his key. The next stroke of lightning was longer, bright as blue sunlight, and with it Porthos clearly saw someone in his apartment seated by the window. It was for a moment only, but enough. That profile was more familiar than his own face, so was the hat pulled down low, and the glitter of a dark eye. Aramis winked at him.

Porthos woke up in his bed, in his shirt and trousers, his eyes red.

“I thought I might check on you,” said d’Artagnan, putting a tray of tea on his writing desk. “And then your landlady sent me up with the tea.”

“That’s four sous,” said Porthos, gruffly, “you’ve let her swindle me.”

D’Artagnan shrugged. “I’ll give you two, if you let me have half the bread.”

Porthos grumbled at him and sat up. “Were you here last night?” he asked, thinking on his dreams.

“I’ve just said, I came up with the tea,” said d’Artagnan. He sat down at the desk, where Porthos’s jacket hung with his baldric on top of it. The curtains were drawn, and he saw some weak light through them. Probably it was still raining.

“Have you seen my boots?”

D’Artagnan rolled his eyes. “Yes, as it happens, I thought, Porthos is probably suffering this morning, and I am a generous fellow, I will bring him a plate of breakfast including tea, hot bread, and his own boots.”

Porthos stared him down. “My head aches.”

“Your boots are by the fire, with your cloak, and dry by now, I think. It is nearly eight o’clock. I must say that you are in better order than I expected, when Athos told me, ‘Go see if Porthos has spent the night in the gutter, or his hallway, or caught pneumonia under his window’, I admit I took him seriously.”

“Never take him seriously,” said Porthos.

Athos actually makes it in time to catch Milady on the road, intending to go with her. Changing her mind about wanting him with her, she helps him realize that Porthos and Aramis are the ones he loves now, and that they love him. With new insight and not wanting to repeat past mistakes, he goes to the monastery to tell Aramis and convince him to come back to him and Porthos.

Oh my god, this is amazing! I very nearly scrolled past this because most of the time main character death is very much Not My Thing, but through some inconceivable accident (fate? we may never know) I read the first word of this. One word led to two, which led to sentences, and before I knew it I had devoured the whole.

I love this so far! The characterizations are being incredibly spot-on and the dialogue is so perfect I am hearing it in the characters' voices as they talk - despite which it manages to ALSO be Dumas-perfect. And the domestic touch of Aramis hanging Porthos' cloak and setting his boots by the fire made me alkshg;oaiheiñ

More pls?

Treville, the King and D'art are captured while on a hunt. Trapped in a place that is pitch black, they have no idea how the other truly is. Surprisingly, the only person that is taken out to be 'talked' to is D'art. And not wanting the others to worry, etc, D'art uses the darkness to his advantage to hide how he truly is and able to trick his captain and king that he is uninjured(other than when they are first captured).

And it is during one of his sessions that D'art takes advantage and is able to get them free. However, halfway from the place they were at he collapses. And it is there, that Treville and Louis finally see how badly wounded and ill he actually is. Now it's there turn to take care of him

Meanwhile, the trio return from a mission, only to find out the king and their comrades are missing. Can the redguards and the musketeers work together to save their king?

++++ The three form a bond of sorts(a slight brotherhood between Louis and D'art and a fatherly Treville)

++++BAMF!Sick!Injured D'art, Protective!BAMF Captain and King, Protective!Musketeers

++ Can be slash(Athos/D'art) or just family/friendship feels

++ D'art is really Louis's favorite Musketeer after this

omg thank you thank you, i'm so pleased you stuck around for round 2!

here's how this ends: d'artagnan runs home to apologize to constance, they kiss, and he's like "oh man this is so much less beardy than i thought" and she's like "?? ur evicted"

meanwhile treville, figuring he's on a roll, drags everyone to the palace like "louis im here to solve your marital discord with role-playing, ok athos pretend you're the queen..."

Athos and Aramis life saving

One time Aramis saved Athos' life and one time Athos saved Aramis'.

... if you're feeling generous, maybe also one time they both saved Porthos'.
From: (Anonymous)
I don't care why or how - maybe they run into each other while Milady is trying to leave for England and Aramis is headed to his Monastery and they end up having to solve a crime together or something - I just want a story with these two working together towards the same purpose and discovering they're unexpectedly really good at working together. And while being snarky and blunt discover they understand each other rather intuitively. Friendship only though.

Bonus for a conversation with the two bonding over Athos with each learning something new from the other about him.

Aramis and Milady Modern AU

From: (Anonymous)
In a similar vein as the above prompt - crack or serious - Aramis (former soldier) and Milady (former assassin) run a Hardy-Boy-esk detective agency together. Maybe the case that first brought them together was the disappearance of Athos and Porthos.

One day, in walks d'Artagnan wanting them to find his missing puppy. Or, if you want to go the more serious route, in walks d'Artagnan wanting them to locate the man who murdered his father (since Captain Treville over at the police station says they can't keep it as an active case when all the leads have gone cold)...

meanwhile treville, figuring he's on a roll, drags everyone to the palace like "louis im here to solve your marital discord with role-playing, ok athos pretend you're the queen..."

If you do not write this fic immediately, I might cry. In fact, I'm going to go officially prompt it right now!
From: (Anonymous)
Inspired by a facetious comment left by the brilliant Author!Anon responsible for the recent fill entitled "Though We Cannot Make Our Sun Stand Still":

http://bbcmusketeerskink.dreamwidth.org/2286.html?thread=3429870#cmt3429870

I am formally prompting a sequel, in which "Treville, figuring he's on a roll, drags everyone to the palace like 'Louis I'm here to solve your marital discord with role-playing--okay, Athos, pretend you're the queen...'"

Because if the prompt is making me laugh like a hyena, how awesome would the fic be???
From: [personal profile] kyele
Surely you must have forseen that, teased with such a marvelous suggestion, I would immediately beg you to write it! ::gets down on knees:: Having had good luck with the first sequel request, how could I not attempt to capitalize on that? One more scene, author? Could it be? May we not tempt you? I'll trade prompts with you in return, if you wish!
