Athos, Aramis and Porthos get together in a relationship. d'Artangan isn't invited and soon works out that his is in the way and beings to distance himself from the group and ends up completely away from them (maybe there are some other side effects from the feelings of abandonment). The three realise to late an his has already accepted a permanent post at the palace or some where.
