Date: 2014-11-02 08:36 pm (UTC)While Athos made a beeline for d`Artagnan, Porthos noted all the guards, seeing the weapon laden bodies, and few exit choices, while selecting a boy who looked all of ten years old with white blonde hair and corn flower blue eyes.
Sickness rolling in his stomach at Basirs smirk he allowed the boy to lead him into one of the chambers taking the boys hands and kneeling before him with a gentle smile
"S`alright li`l man, m`not here for any of that" he said giving the small hands a squeeze
"Then what Monsieur?" the boy asked shakily avoid Porthos eyes and nibbling his bottom lip
"Information" Porthos said reaching into his pocket and pulling out a stick of marchpane and handing it to the now wide eyed lad "You tell me all the ways in and out of this dump and there`ll be another stick for ya too!".
"Are you alright?" Athos asked seeing the stiff way d`Artagnan was moving and the pallor of his skin his stomach lurching at the thoughts of what could have occurred since he left "What happened?"
"Nothing" d`Artagnan whispered sitting down on the bed and wincing with pain
"D`Artagnan?" Athos warned frowning at the boy
"I got in a fight" d`Artagnan replied "Basir...........he......"
"He what?", Athos voice was nothing but a growl of fury his hands going to the sword at his hip keen to avenge his......wait HIS?, Gascon!, d`Artagnan mumbled something looking away as if ashamed
"D`Artagnan?" Athos pressed fearing the worst had happened that d`Artagnan had been violated by the bastard whoreson who ran this place
"They whipped us" d`Artagnan repeated before doubling over in pain "Oh God!, my back hurts so bad!" he moaned lifting the loose caftan sans any corset "Look!" he whispered revealing the twenty bloody red raw wheels across his back delivered by a cat of nine tails.
Athos felt like all the breath had left his body, his blood boiling in his veins at the sight of d`Artagnan`s abused flesh, the desire to go and rip Basir apart, consequences be damned burning in his gut and heart, only years of experiance as a Musketeer kept him from acting on this instinct, instead he crossing the room his hands going to d`Artagnans shoulders and carefully examining the wounds for himself.
Each one was expertly delivered a deep enough to have spilled alot of blood, it was no wonder d`Artagnan was in pain, the welts needed to be stitched, not just rubbed over with salt and alcohol to clean them.
"They do not look infected" Athos said wishing he could do more for d`Artagnan, looking about the room he spied a bowl of water and rose from the bed, "Lay on your front, I`ll try and ease some of the pain" he said taking a hand kerchief from his pockets and returning to the bed to gently douse each welt and massage the reddened flesh about the wounds wincing with every cry d`Artagnan let out, the fact he was vocalizing his pain showed just how bad it was, normally he`d have swallowed his own tongue before crying, but right now he was unable to keep from expressing his torment as Athos cleaned and massaged his back,
"I`ll kill Basir for this" Athos swore as he set aside the cloth and bloody water "I swear to you, he will pay for this, I`ll see to it personally"
"I know you will" d`Artagnan whispered looking at Athos with watery eyes, perhaps it was the pain of seeing d`Artagnan like this, or the stress of the past few days, but Athos found himself leaning forward and pressing a kiss into the Gascons mouth.
