Welcome to the BBC The Musketeers kink meme

The lowdown: You post your prompt, anon or not. Someone else will hopefully fill it (also anon or not). Not for profit, just for fun. And in this case, for king and country.

Anon is on, IP logging is off.

Rules:
No wank
No kink-shaming
Be respectful to everyone
The mod is not your babysitter
Use the warnings

Mandatory trigger warnings/warnings for both prompts and fills:
non-con/dub-con
abuse (physical and mental)
issues such as racism, sexism, homo-/trans-/-bi-/ace-phobia etc
character death
suicide
self-harm
eating disorders
extreme physical or mental illness
substance abuse (alcohol, drugs, medication)
bullying
gore and horror

If this list misses anything, do let me know, though please understand that if absolutely everything is added this list will never end.

You are encouraged and advised to add additional warnings at your own discretion.

Please make use of the subject line.

If your prompt alludes to the book or any of the other adaptations, please let us know which one.

Lastly, prompt freezes (which I have to say I’m really not fond of) etc will be at the mod’s discretion. I will decide on a prompt cut-off point for prompt posts once I know how fast the meme moves.

Rule addition: No more discussions on the prompt post. If you want to discuss something, we have a discussion post. If you want to wank about a prompt, that's not what the discussion post is for. That's what your scroll bar and that little red x in the top corner of your browser is for.

Mm. I tend to shy away from OT4 in this verse. If only because figuring out the mechanics of the original three being together but not together for years and then figuring it out is one thing, but keeping them apart because they are waiting for their fourth just seems kind of... *handwave* I can't quite find the words for it. Though I think part of it is the generational thing. I won't say that I can't see slashing d'Artagnan with one of the other three but a writer has to work harder for me to find it believable. Most of their interaction with him tends to read as familial to me, rather than romantic. Also, d'Artagnan is d'Artagnan, so his showing up and announcing himself just makes that part all too easy. (Though I can appreciate the hilarity of having him show up, announce himself, and try to kill Athos while Athos just grumps at him, Porthos is laughing himself sick, and Aramis is grinning like a loon while he says, "I think there's something you ought to know...")

Also, I think that d'Artagnan might be Constance's soulmate. She married her husband because he lost his soulmate when he was young and was now just looking for a suitable wife. I think he even told her so outright before they got married, possibly if/when she admitted that he wasn't hers. She hadn't met her soulmate and needed a good match for a husband. Add tension, some angst, and mix well when d'Artagnan shows up - and they fail to openly acknowledge each other, but he comes to stay as their lodger anyhow - and sparks fly.

(Ahahahahaha! YES. Yes, he definitely DID.)

True, the timeline does make the OT4 thing more awkward. Oh well, I ship the OT3 only slightly less, heh. And that explanation of Constance's marriage makes sense because she is clearly not married to her soulmate (and also this makes the "please think kindly" scene is 1000% more poignant, and almost as good as wanting to kill your soulmate).

Anne and Louis aren't soulmates, of course, because being royalty sucks and you get married off for political purposes no matter whose name is on you. Sometimes you get lucky, and your soulmate happens to be the political match, but most of the time love is for commoners.

(I just want 100000 words of world building and wacky soulmate hijinks and miscommunication in this universe. And I don't even like soulmates that much, wtf.)

Argh! Okay, flat view is apparently killing my ability to communicate tonight. I think I accidentally posted my reply to this to the main post? IDEK. (Shows you both how rarely I usually get involved in kinkmeme discussions and how ridiculously excited I am about this one. XD)

Here was my reply:

Yeah, it kind of does. Also, the fact that the three of them make such a complete unit on their own. Which leads neatly into why I ship the OT3 so damn hard. XD Thanks! I thought it would be a neat addition to the verse, and adds an extra layer to her (clearly not love-based) marriage and the inescapable draw to d'Artagnan. (Oh. Oh, wow. You're so very right about that!)

Now here's hoping I managed to get THIS posted in the right place!

*slaps forehead* Okay, I got it posted in the right place and left off half of my reply. I think it's time I went to bed. XD

The rest of my reply:

Sad, but true. The best that royalty can usually hope for is that their soulmate will be found somewhere amongst the nobility from which it would be feasible to take a lover. Also, because commoners rarely get into close enough proximity to the king/queen to be recognized.

(That's why I don't understand why this prompt has latched onto my brain like this! I mean, of all things, a soulmate prompt?? Which isn't to say that I'm not enjoying the hell out of brainstorming for it. XD I suck at humour and hijinks - though I do enjoy it when someone else manages to do it well - but I'll totally help with the thousands of words of worldbuilding part!)

Probably adds nothing, but D'Artagnan never announces his first name when he arrives, he just introduces himself as D'Artagnan. His real first name is Charles :3
